Winning Souls, part 3
Solomon delved into the fascination of intellectual delights, of deep intricate philosophies and problems. He knew how to handle and control people, personally and in large numbers. He had tasted the rich wines of pleasure as few had. Yet in spite of all of that, his conclusion to life is this; the wise person is the one that gives all their strength to wooing people back to the tree of life. “He who wins souls is wise.” The wisest man to ever live, the man who did not have an equal on earth, nor ever will have, stated: “if you want to be wise – win souls.”
Why is it critical to be people of wisdom?
Why is it critical to be people of wisdom? It's because we are living in the last days and people are going to abandon the faith. Subsequently, we need to turn people back to righteousness. 1 Timothy 4:1“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.”
In the later times some will abandon the faith. Will you be one of those? Will you be one of those who follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons? These are sobering thoughts. We are clearly living in the later times. Maybe it’s not you who will abandon the faith. Maybe it will be your children. Maybe it will be your spouse that follows deceiving spirits. What then?
Because these are serious and very real matters King Solomon charges us to do something about it. He, in essence says, “Keep men on the right path. And if you will do this you will be wise.”
Turning men back to righteousness is some of the finest fruit any life could produce. This is the real test of wisdom. He that is a wise man gives the cream of his thought and wisdom to personal influence with men. He thinks the thing most worthwhile, is that of drawing a man/woman through the inner reaches of their mind and affections away from the impure and deceptive, and into the pure and holy presence of God.
Why is it critical to turn people back to righteousness? I think there are two reasons for this; 1.We do it for the Father. 2. We do it for them.Solomon asked for wisdom so that the promise to his father could be confirmed. Can you image that level of love? Solomon could have asked God for anything and yet his first thought is toward someone else, specifically his father.
Our first priority in turning people back to righteousness should be the glory of God. We should do it for our Father. Our motive to lead men to righteousness must come out of our love for the Lord. We must be driven with a desire to bring satisfaction to Him. I believe, and am convinced, that in the Kingdom of God everything rises or falls on the motives of people.

HOW TO TELL WHEN FOODS GO BAD
ICE CREAM - If you can’t tell the difference between your ice cubes and your ice cream, it’s time to throw BOTH out.
FROZEN FOODS – Frozen foods that have become an integral part of the defrosting problem in your freezer compartment will probably be spoiled (or wrecked anyway) by the time you pry them out with a kitchen knife.
EGGS – When something starts pecking its way out of the shell, the egg is probably past its prime.
DAIRY PRODUCTS – Milk is spoiled when it starts to look like yogurt. Don't even go near it if it looks like cottage cheese (unless it is cottage cheese).
YOGURT is spoiled when it starts to look like cottage cheese. Cottage cheese is spoiled when it starts to look like regular cheese. Regular cheese is nothing but spoiled milk anyway – if you can dig down and still find something non-green, bon appetit!
MEAT – If opening the refrigerator door causes stray animals from a three-block radius to congregate outside your house, toss the meat.
UNMARKED ITEMS – You know it is well beyond prime when you’re tempted to discard the Tupperware along with the food.
CANNED GOODS – Any canned goods that have become the size or shape of a softball should be disposed of very carefully.
POTATOES – Fresh potatoes should not have roots, branches, or dense, leafy undergrowth.
BREAD – Sesame seeds and poppy seeds are the only officially acceptable “spots” that should be seen on the surface of any loaf of bread. Fuzzy and hairy looking white or green growth areas are good indications that your bread has turned into a pharmaceutical laboratory experiment. You may wish to discard it at this time, depending on your interest in pharmaceuticals.
CEREAL – It is generally a good rule of thumb that cereal should be discarded when it will no longer fall out of the box by itself.
FLOUR – Flour is spoiled when it wiggles or things fly out when you open it.
RAISINS – Raisins should not usually be harder than your teeth
SALT – It never spoils. However, if you can’t chip off reasonable amounts from the block, maybe another box is in order, as fresh salt usually pours.
SPICES – Most spices cannot die, they just fade away. They will be fine on your shelf, forever. Put them in your will.
VINEGAR – If your grandmother made it, it is probably still good.
